Dear Friend of the Mokelumne River,
As you may already know, East Bay MUD has serious plans to expand the Pardee Reservoir with a new dam which would flood miles of the beautiful Mokelumne River.
The EBMUD board of directors is holding fast to this option in spite of overwhelming opposition from Foothill residents, their own water customers, Local, State, and Federal  officials, along with recreational, and Conservation organizations.  It seems they intend to ignore this almost unanimous opposition and push ahead with their plan to expand the reservoir and flood the river.  We can protect the river from EBMUD with Wild and Scenic designation.  We need to put every effort into achieving Wild and Scenic Designation before it’s too late.
The Amador County Board of  Supervisors has voted to oppose the new dam but has not yet voted to support Wild and Scenic Designation.   Their support would be very helpful in achieving our goal.  We need to educate more Amador County citizens of the value of Wild and Scenic Designation and bring pressure on the Board of Supervisors to support that designation.
What we’re asking is that you call your Supervisor, tell him that you are a supporter of Wild and Scenic designation for the Mokelumne River, and tell him that you want him to support Wild and Scenic designation if it ever comes up for a vote.
Please also contact your neighbors and encourage them to do the same.

Local photographer and graphic designer Eleanor Caputo has a vision of Jackson. Eleanor is an active contributor of the Jackson Revitalization Committee. Eleanor has a business on Main Street and has the creative vision as to what Jackson could be. Please take a moment to view her renderings. (Clicking the slideshow will animate her ideas) Feel free to contact her about her ideas. This plan could become a reality but we need to get Eleanor's vision out to the public.

Loraine, if you are able and comfortable sending this on, Senator Reid has asked those of us who support some form of public option in the final health care bill to call our Representative. I wanted to ask any fellow Amador residents who are in favor of this to please call Congressman Dan Lungren at (916) 859-9906. https://forms.house.gov/lungren/forms/email.shtml
Thanks.

SCEPTOR - "Sutter Creek Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization." SCEPTOR is in the process of being incorporated and becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. (We do not expect this to become final until spring of 2010).
SCEPTOR raises money to benefit Sutter Creek Elementary.  Last year SCEPTOR purchased computers for both Sutter Creek campuses; and current, accurate maps and globes.  (The old maps were from the early 70's).  Along with specific projects like Sutter Creek Primary's new garden area, every year SCEPTOR fully funds the teachers' allowance program, which provides the teachers funds to purchase teaching tools and other items for their classrooms.  SCEPTOR hopes to fund the Arts & Music program at Sutter Creek Elementary for this school year and the next, at least.
This year SCEPTOR is anticipating two main fund-raisers:  The Walk-A-Thon, which was last Friday, October 9th; and the Wine-Tasting and Silent Auction in February 2010.
We are still in the early stages of planning the wine tasting event, but know we are looking to local businesses to donate items for the silent auction; local restaurants to provide appetizers (we are contemplating food sampling to go with the wine); and for advertising.  There will be a 'program' printed with names of the participating local wineries and businesses.

President, SCEPTOR
