How do I go about getting an announcement posted on ACN?
Click here to fill out a form, or send your announcement to ACN at ACNewsRoom@gmail.com

Include the following in your e-mail:

Name of Event
Day, Date, Time
Location
Brief description of the event and contact information.

What are your deadlines?
ACN doesn't have deadlines. You can e-mail your announcement at anytime, day or night. They usually get posted within the first 24-48 hours upon receipt via e-mail. If it isn't, contact us at 257-4126 or e-mail it again...we receive tons of announcements every day, from sources inside and outside Amador county. We don't want yours to get lost!

If I send you a press release, will ACN publish it?
Yes. There is a $60/year posting fee for press releases and flyers. Public service announcements and releases from governmental agencies are free.

How often do you publish?
Every day, sometimes every hour. Again, there are no deadlines except for the ones you have in getting your information out, so make sure you get it to us in a timely manner.

How long has ACN been online?
ACN was first launched in April of 2007.

Do you send reporters out to cover events?
No. ACN is based upon the concept of citizen media, which means the citizens of Amador County are the "reporters". ACN accepts e-mail reports, press releases, news feeds and freelance articles from Amador County citizens, 24-hrs/day, 7 days/ week. If you have them, we welcome pictures with your reports or press releases.

Who owns ACN?
The ACN Web site is designed and managed by the Editor, Carol Harper. However, citizens, agencies, organizations, freelance writers/reporters, etc. all over Amador County provide the information for postings. Therefore, ACN is kind of owned by...you! If you have contributed to ACN, consider yourself a part of Amador Citizen Media.

Why online?
The Internet is a powerful tool in connecting communities, locally and globally, and is the best way to get information out quickly. ACN also helps by providing an online presence for those who do not have Web sites - as well as those who have them - by offering effective, affordable advertising.
Just having a Web site doesn't mean people will know about you, or about the products and services you offer. Many of our clients say that they get a lot of their business via "word of mouth" or referrals...which is basically what ACN is, your "word of mouth" source. It's just that it's done online, that's all.

How can I advertise with you?
Call ACN at 257-4126 or e-mail ACNSalesDavid@gmail.com. All ads are full color (we don't "do" black and white!)  If you already have ads made up, e-mail them to us (JPEG or GIF).

Why are your prices for advertising so low?
Because ACN is relatively new in Amador County (since April 2007). However, it is growing rapidly and has quickly become one of Amador County's top sources for daily information. Also, in these tight economical times, we wanted a way for start up businesses and non-profits to advertise without breaking their budgets.

But I've already used up my budget for advertising/publicizing our event. Can you still get it on ACN?
Only as a posting in the departmental announcement section(s), which will at least make it into our calendar. But for only $150/year, you can have an ACN banner ad to a full color page ad or linked to your Web site! Call ACN at 257-4126 or e-mail ACNSalesDavid@gmail.com for details.

What do you need from me as far as advertising?
If you already have ad graphics, e-mail them to ACNEditor@gmail.com. Make sure they're in either JPEG or GIF formats, photos 300dpi or higher. Pictures of people in your business or organizations are great, too! Just click on any one of our ads and see how they're set up.

I want to send information, but don't know if ACN will publish it. What are your requirements for submitting content?
We cannot reproduce or reprint copyrighted content/articles without permission. However, you can forward links you find of interests to the community e-mail group. It is at Loraine Davis' discretion as to whether the article is relevant enough to Amador County to forward it on to the rest of the online community.
ACN does not accept material that is offensive, vulgar or in bad taste. We remain politically neutral and non-partisan. Our "Religion" department invites all churches and religions to post their announcements. Our "Amador Living" section invites all cultures and ethnic communities to participate and announce their events. We truly want and strive for ACN to be Amador County's community e-newspaper.
We also don't want to become a "gossip rag", so if you want to submit a citizen report about something that's happened in Amador County, be sure to get your sources and facts straight, and make sure your information can be verified.

I see something online that is incorrect.
Call the ACN Editor at 257-4126 or e-mail ACNEditor@gmail.com with any comments or concerns about the content on ACN. We want to get things right! And we thank you and appreciate the head's up!

I e-mailed my announcement in, but I don't see it posted.
Generally we try to get things posted within the first few hours upon receipt. If you don't see it by the end of the day, please send it again.
Please try to get your announcement in at least a week or two before the event takes place. For maximum exposure for your event, see Advertise on ACN for details.

My announcement IS too late to post. Will you post it on ACN anyway?
No, but it can/will go through the community e-mail group. Again, please try to get those announcements in as soon as you can - at least a week or two in advance.

Why don't you just let citizens post whatever they want on ACN, like a blog site?
You know, I actually considered that when ACN first started. I wanted as much input as possible from the citizens as to what they wanted to see on ACN and how they wanted to see it. I've received some great input (still do!)...from requests posting comments automatically to the site, to making the font larger so it can be read easily.
As far as freely posting comments, experience has shown me that some people behave well when expressing their opinion; others behave badly. So it became evident that some sort of content management was needed.
My title as "Editor" is merely an ombudsman-type role; I really want ACN to be a site that is friendly, relevant and useful for the citizens of Amador County. with as minimal clicks of the mouse as possible. I encourage citizens to create their own blog sites and sites; send me your link and I'll review it. If it's friendly, relevant and useful, I will post it in our  "Opinion" department. Citizens have the power to choose what they want to

How do you determine what goes on ACN?
ACN has been a "trial and error" project. I've introduced and have discontinued several departments and sections in the past year as I've gauged the response to them. If there is a need
