SPANISH CLASSES - There are currently 6 classes, all levels are available at the hospital on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  There is also Medical Spanish and GED in Spanish, and private classes are also available.   A series of 5 group  classes is $45. AMADOR FLYFISHERS HOLIDAY DINNER & SILENT AUCTION – Sun Dec 6 at 6PM at Thomi’s Restaurant, Mother Lode Plaza, 627 S. State Hwy 49, Jackson. Raffle, door prize, awards and recognition, good times and great food! Menu: Chicken, Tri-Tip, salad, vegetables, mashed potatoes and pasta. Dinner is served buffet-style. There will be a no-host bar selling beer & wine.

ACRA'S BLUE MOON NEW YEAR'S EVE BASH - Thurs Dec 31 at the Amador County Fairgrounds open at 6 p.m., happy hour from 6-7 p.m. dinner from 7-9 p.m. A variety of live blues will provide music all night for listening and dancing, including Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers and Maxx Cabello Jr. Fireworks, live and silent auction, raffle drawings, dancing.

SPANISH AND FRENCH classes offered by Elke Duffy: Beginning Spanish and Beginning French classes will not take place during the month of September but will be continued in October.
Beginning Spanish will be continued starting Saturday, October 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for 5 consecutive Saturdays up to and including November 1, 2008. Beginning French will start October 4th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for the same time period. The cost for each 5 week session is $60 and includes the text book. Classes are being held in the Amador County Association of Realtors offices (upstairs) in Mother Lode Plaza (behind Jose's Restaurant). AMERICAN SEWING GUILD Amador Chapter meets the 2nd Thursday from 9AM to 12 Noon and the 4th Monday from 9:30-3PM Old General Store, Drytown The local American Sewing Guild sew many items for various groups in the county. Volunteers are welcome for as much time as they wish to give. They recently donated 24 quilts to the Sheriff Dept., and 15 quilts to the pregnancy help center.  They are constantly looking for organizations that have a need of the service we can provide, and also for sewers who want to help fill these needs.  If this is something of interest to you, please contact Roseanne Lauters at 245-691. generalstor@yahoo.com

AMERICAN SEWING GUILD: COOL TIES AND HELMET COOLERS - The ASG has supplied all the fabric and crystals to make Cool Ties and Helmet Coolers for the Soldiers in war zones. There are many of you who came to the First S.O.S. Support Our Soldiers workshop August 17 at the Jackson Senior Center.  With your help we made 134 cool ties and 13 helmet coolers.  Our workshops will be held on the Second Wednesday of each month at The American Legion Building, 12134 Airport Rd., Sutter Creek, from 9AM to 4PM. You can bring a lunch or something to share. We hope to make 3,500 ties/coolers by year end. General sewing supplies such as rotary cutter, matt, sewing machine, scissors, dark thread are all that is needed to make these. If you don't have these items there will be supplies available to use. GOLD COUNTRY FLYERS of Amador County, meets the 1st Thursday of every month from 7-9PM, Amador County Ag Building, 12200 Airport Road, Jackson Founded in 1972, the Gold Country Flyers is a 90+ Member Club nestled in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Gold Country. We are dedicated to the enjoyment and advancement of building and flying radio controlled aircraft. All levels of experience are welcome. Free instruction is available to those just starting out. Club membership is required to fly at our flying field, Spiva Field, is located approximately 5 miles north of Ione, CA on Michigan Bar Road. Interested in becoming a UC Master Gardener? The Master Gardener program is sponsored by the University of California. Local volunteers are specially trained to answer questions, diagnose plant problems and give horticulture assistance to the public at no cost. Applications for the upcoming training class will be mailed out in late October. Anyone interested in becoming one of these volunteers and want to be put on the application mailing list should contact the Master Gardener Program Coordinator Andrew Kramer at 223-6837.
