HOLA, AMIGOS...

Classes will be starting again in August and all current classes at Sutter Amador Hospital will continue. There will be no classes next Wednesday.  Happily, my mold removal is finally complete so I can also resume classes at my house. There are classes for new beginners, high beginners, intermediate and advanced students and private classes are also available for those who prefer it or can't make one of the regular classes.   We have had so much fun in our classes this summer and all students who took time off are invited to get back into a class ASAP.  Even though it is only one hour a week, some students have made great progress this year and this will ALWAYS depend on consistency and persistence of practice, but classes do help.  Whether you can come or not, let nothing deter you from the fabulous goal of speaking a foreign language.

New beginners meet on Tuesdays at 5:00.  There is a class finishing the book, Spanish Made Simple, on Tuesdays at 4:00.  They are reviewing verb tenses.  Advanced students meet at 4:30 on Wednesdays and are working in the new book and BOTH of these classes are writing (often highly entertaining little items). There are also two other classes that are working around Chapters 20 and 30 respectively in SMS.

All classes are still $45. for a series of 5 (paid in advance), and beginning the week of August 10. Feel free to mail checks to Nora Coryell, Box 181, Jackson 95642, or pay $50. on the first day of class. During this series you can deduct $10. for any classes that you know you will be missing (my summer policy).

AUGUST eBLAST

We will be visiting the Rancho San Miguel in Lodi on Friday, September 11, for lunch and shopping for Mexican food items.   All are welcome.  We will leave Jackson around 10:00, and will carpool.

I have been hoping to return to Patzcuaro area for Day of the Dead this year, in the same condo as last year.  We had a super time, and that is my very favorite area to enjoy this festivity in Mexico.  However, Oaxaca runs it a close second and Global Exchange has a trip there that we are considering also (see below).   Better yet, they are offering a trip to Cuba and I believe that is "the bomb"as they say (see below also).  I will be seeing GE founder Medea Benjamin at the end of this month and hope to make a final decision after speaking with her about some of the details.                             Profe Nora
